With Lera's extended family being so far away, it is hard to keep everyone updated so we figured it would be a good idea to start a blog to let everyone know what Lera is up too.
On September 5th, Lera will be three months old! I think both Trevor and I are pretty surprised at how fast the past few weeks have gone. In the beginning, the weeks seemed to go by fairly slowly. Lera was quite the handful (understatement of the century!) and the days seemed long.
Now with the help of some trusty reflux medication and special formula, Lera is finally a pretty happy baby! We couldn't be happier with the changes we see in Lera as surviving months of her previous constant screaming would have been tough! Lera loves attention which can get exhausting at times but it is much easier to coo and smile at a baby who isn't screaming 24 hours a day.
Lera has been growing and learning so much everyday that it is hard to keep up with her. Recently, she has decided that cooing is for suckers and has switched her gentle coos to loud squawks. She is constantly squealing and squawking at us when she wants something or when she has something to tell us. She will spend a good ten minutes squawking at various toys or the cats. She seems very pleased with herself when one of the cats shows her the tiniest bit of attention.
Lera has set herself into a pretty predictable routine which we dutifully follow! She hates change so we are the boring old parents who are always home by eight to have the baby in bed! Most of her days look the same which is boring and exciting at the same time.
This afternoon, Lera learned a new trick! We have been really pushing tummy time with her in the past week or so because she didn't get much of it in the first six weeks of her life. Her physiotherapists (she goes to physio for her left torticullus) said they wanted to see her spending more time on her tummy so we've been trying to give her at least 30 minutes a day. Slowly, she has been enjoying tummy time more and more. Her neck is getting stronger and she is looking a lot less crooked.
Today Lera decided that she would show us just how good she is on her tummy.
